I should not have to hack my laptop just to make it run as it should. Bringing the CPU down -100mv brought the temperatures under control and increases battery life. At stock voltages the fan spins up way too much during normal use. This thing is begging to be under-volted. Just overall a good industrial design, except for one huge problem I will talk about later. I hated the small shitty buttons on the 14, so I rather have no buttons at all. This thing rips Cinebench faster than my old i7 6700k desktop CPU.

The 1070 MaxQ is perfect for 1080p gaming, especially at high refresh rates.Ħ cores on a laptop. Maybe because your field of view is more focused? If you thought high refresh rate was great on a large monitor, its even more striking on a 15" one. THIN BEZELS! WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2016, RAZER! I hated the Blade 14's bezels so much that after a few months I decided I wasn't gonna use that laptop anymore.ġ44Hz on a gaming laptop is a revelation. Otherwise? I dunno, go explore the city, take some photos, meet people. Pretty much gaming is great for lonely time in the hotel room when you are away from home and have nothing to work on. You should probably add the cost of a Sherpa to your total. What happens if you want to play a game or do real work while you're not in the hotel, but have limited space? So your idea is now to travel with two, slower computers and an external, USB keyboard?
NEW RAZER BLADE SKIN FULL SIZE
You leave the gaming laptop in the hotel room.Īnd surface tablets have full size USB ports so it is easy to hook an external keyboard which also is superior to all laptop keyboards. Additionally your Dell has lower specs in every single category so if any of those specs are important to someone, upgrading it to parity wipes out your price delta.

Tablets suck for Office and lugging both a tablet and that Dell around means carrying 70% more weight, plus a bag big enough to carry it all. You actually provided information beyond an unsupported, contentless declaration. I was eyeing the Blade Stealth + Core as a potential next laptop, but this new Blade just checks every single box for me.

If I owned one of these I'd probably just go ahead and install Win10 Pro and get my boss to let me use it as my workstation at work too. I could use this thing for work, for music production, for gaming, for home lab.pretty much anything I use a computer for, and it's pretty much the size and weight of the MBP 15" I'm already carrying every day. Still, the 4K setup would basically handle all my computing needs, and I'd dock it with a Core v2 with my GTX-1080 hooked up to my 3440x1440 100Hz for serious gaming. My only gripe is I ideally want a GTX-1060 with the 4K screen, and I'm not sure they'll sell it in that configuration.

It's the XPS 15 screen format but with an honest-to-God good GPU instead of that GTX-1050 nonsense Dell is using. It uses a standard M.2 SSD and you can bump the RAM to 32GB from the factory (or buy your own DDR4 SO-DIMMs and do it yourself). Would be nice to see a bump in both of those. Still USB 3.1 Gen 1 as well (so it seems, not entirely clear), and the 16GB RAM/512GB SSD is a little blah. Kinda surprised they don't offer it in a TLK bundle. On the other, good luck if you want to type with a stand like this. On the one hand, I use a controller so the incline doesn't bother me. Saw it when I tested adding a laptop to my cart. Oh, and I guess the Max Q design means they need more airflow. The only one available today is the 1080p/144hz with the GTX 1070 and 256GB PCIe SSD. It's just too close to Turing/Ampere to buy a laptop with a GTX 1060/1070.

Given what happened in 2016 when Razer shipped their first Thunderbolt 3 laptops with GTX 970M in 2016, and then less than 4 months later shipped updated laptops with the GTX 1060, I'm going to wait for now. On the downside, it's still sporting GTX 1060/1070 GPU options.
NEW RAZER BLADE SKIN UPDATE
This is a much needed update to the Blade line, and if it works out I hope Alienware notices. I guess they got the hint when the FTC said no more of this "opening voids your warranty" bullshit.

That's a first for the Blade series as Razer has said since the very beginning "there be dragons here" with respect to the insides of their laptop chassis. From perusing the spec sheet, looks like we have a PCIe NVMe slot and officually upgradeable RAM. Doesn't look like any model has G-SYNC as they all list Optimus.Īll models have the i7-8750H 6C/12T parts and come with 16GB of RAM.
